KartMasters GP 2026 – Dominant Pace cut Short on Finals Day

The 2026 KartMasters Grand Prix proved to be an absolute rollercoaster of an event. Showing immense pace from the very first session, the weekend delivered world-class karting, fierce battles at the front, and plenty of drama when the stakes were highest on finals day.

Building the Momentum: Heats & Intermediate Classification

The early stages of the event saw a near-flawless display of racecraft and speed. Setting up the weekend with a strong P7 in Qualifying 1, the heat races saw a steady march toward the front of the field.

• Heat 3: P1

• Heat 4: P3 (Fastest Lap)

Putting together a string of top finishes—including a win in Heat 3 and setting the fastest lap in Heat 4—secured a superb P2 overall in the Intermediate Classification. Heading into finals day, the goal was clear: fight for the overall KartMasters crown.

Finals Day Drama: Superheat & Final

Finals day brought unmatched intensity and a bitter combination of unmatched pace and raw bad luck.

Starting near the front in the Superheat, a promising run took a sudden turn onto the bridge. Fighting hard from P4, the front nosecone became hooked into the rear bumper of the kart directly ahead. The resulting contact sent the kart off-track. Rejoining near the back, a charge through the field saw a recovery to P14 at the flag, setting the fastest lap of the race along the way. While the recovery proved the kart’s speed, the drop in position unfortunately cost a front-row start for the main event.

Starting the Final from P5, a clean, steady start was critical. Settling quickly into P3 during the opening laps, aggressive battling behind the leader allowed the lead kart to pull out a gap of over a second. Over the course of seven relentless laps, the gap was systematically chipped away, setting up a decisive move to take the lead with just a lap and a half remaining.

With half a lap to go, a nudge from behind at Hairpin 2 pushed the kart deep and off line, allowing the pack to capitalise and causing the final result to unravel in the dying corners.

Looking Ahead

While a post-race penalty ultimately relegated the official finish to P20, the speed shown across every single session was undeniable. Having the pace to chase down and lead the KartMasters Final is a massive positive to take forward into the rest of the season.
