RMCET Round 4: Dominant Pace and Podiums at Steel Ring
The final round of the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy (RMCET) at Steel Ring in Trinec, Czech Republic, delivered non-stop action, blistering speed, and a fighting drive through the field to cap off a remarkable European campaign.
Across the entire weekend, the race pace on a dry track was unmatched, with Josh setting fastest laps and purple sectors in every single dry session. While Sunday threw significant adversity our way, a pair of hard-charged recoveries ensured a podium finish to round out the series.
Weekend Breakdown: Speed, Setbacks, and Recovery
Qualifying & Heat Racing
The action kicked off under wet conditions, with Josh securing P3 in Qualifying to set up a strong second-row start for the heat races.
Heat 1 (Wet): P3 ➡️ P6
Tricky track conditions made for a tough opening heat, managing grip levels on a very wet track to bring the kart home safely in P6 after a lap 1 assist onto the grass saw us drop to P12.
Heat 2 (Dry): P3 ➡️ P1 (On Track) ➡️ Technical DSQ 🟣 (Fastest Lap)
Josh put on a masterclass in the dry, storming to the front to cross the line first while logging the fastest lap of the race. However, a technical non-conformity post-race resulted in a disqualification. The issue—an honest oversight that provided zero performance advantage—proved costly, stripping away a win and pushing Josh down the intermediate standings.
Heat 3 (Dry): P3 ➡️ P2 🟣 (Fastest Lap)
Bouncing straight back, Josh proved his pace was no fluke, carving his way to a P2 finish and locking in another purple lap.
Following the Heat 2 penalty, Josh sat in P13 in the Intermediate Classification, setting up a demanding Sunday starting position.
Sunday Finals: Charging Through the Field
With significant ground to make up, Sunday was all about recovery and damage limitation.
Superheat
Starting Grid: P13
Finish: P3 🟣 (Fastest Lap)
Starting deep in the pack at P13, Josh put on a clinical overtaking display. Lap after lap, he picked off the opposition, punching through purple sectors to claw his way all the way up to P3. With the leader breaking clear early while battles raged behind, there simply weren't enough laps left to close down the lead group.
Main Final
Starting Grid: P10
Finish: P3 🏆 🟣 (Fastest Lap)
Starting P10 for the Main Final, the objective was clear: push hard early and limit the damage. Once again, Josh showed exceptional racecraft, slicing through the field with unmatched pace to climb onto the podium in P3, claiming yet another fastest lap along the way. While P1 had already established an uncatchable gap out front, Josh's raw speed proved he was the fastest driver on track—leaving us only wishing we had a few extra laps like the Senior category to contend for the victory!
Campaign Summary
Achieving a podium finish at every single round of the four-stage RMCET series reflects the consistency, speed, and determination shown throughout the season. While we know the pace was there for a fourth victory this weekend, this campaign has been nothing short of exceptional securing a 100% podium rate across the campaign.
