🏆 CROWNED BRITISH CHAMPIONS: JOSHUA COOKE SEALS BKC TITLE & E-PLATE IN SILVERSTONE DRAMA

The 2026 British Kart Championship (BKC) reached its dramatic conclusion this past weekend at Silverstone for Rounds 5 & 6. Entering the event as the overall points leader, the championship battle was far tighter than it appeared on paper. Once dropped scores were factored into the equation, Josh actually entered the weekend five points adrift of his primary rival, Austin Oman.

The task was clear: deliver absolute consistency, maximize every single heat point, and execute under pressure to bring the MiniMAX 950 crown home.

ROUND 5: GRIT & DAMAGE LIMITATION

Saturday kicked off in strong fashion during qualifying, with Josh securing overall Pole and P10 for Heat 2. From there, racecraft took center stage across the heat races.

  • Qualifying: P1 & P10

  • Heat 1: P1 ➡️ P2

  • Heat 2: P10 ➡️ P1

  • Heats Classification: P1

  • Final: P1 ➡️ P6

A brilliant drive in Heat 2 saw Josh carve his way forward from 10th to claim the win, placing him P1 overall in the heat classifications and securing pole position for the Final.

However, as the weather turned, a difficult wet Final presented severe setup and pace challenges. Lacking optimum speed in the wet conditions, Josh fought hard to cross the line in P6—a result that wasn't part of the plan, but vital for keeping the championship fight alive heading into Sunday.

ROUND 6: CHAMPIONSHIP DECIDER

With everything on the line for the final day of the domestic season, the team reset and came out flying for Round 6.

  • Qualifying: P1 & P2

  • Heat 1: P1 ➡️ P1

  • Heat 2: P2 ➡️ P2

  • Heats Classification: P1

  • Final: P1 ➡️ P3

Josh set the tone early with an excellent qualifying session (Overall Pole and P2 for Heat 2) before delivering pristine heat performances—taking a win in Heat 1 and a close P2 in Heat 2. Once again, his consistency secured P1 in the intermediate standings and pole position for the main event.

Starting from pole in the Final, Josh drove a tactical, composed race. Managing the gap and keeping his championship rival firmly behind him, he crossed the line in P3—securing enough points to overturn the deficit and claim the 2026 British Kart Championship title by just 2 points!

To cap off an extraordinary weekend, Josh’s performance also secured top honors in the English Championship (E-Plate), adding a fourth major trophy to his 2026 campaign.

A HISTORIC 2026 CAMPAIGN

Winning the British Kart Championship and the E-Plate alongside the BNL Series Championship (won by 78 points) and the RMC Euro Trophy (3 round wins from 4) completes one of the most dominant single-season sweeps in recent junior karting history.

A massive thank you goes to the entire KR-Sport outfit, KR-Sport Engines, Minus Gloves, and all of our sponsors and supporters who have made this domestic and European campaign possible.

NEXT UP: THE GRAND FINALS
