A wild weekend weather wise in the Czech Republic leaves us with work to do in the wet!

RMC Euro Trophy R2: Steel Ring, Czech Republic

Quali: P2 (in group), P4 overall

Heat 1 - P4 > 🏁 P16

HEATS CLASSIFICATION: P9

Prefinal: P9 > 🏁 DSQ (assistance on grid)

FINAL CLASSIFICATION: P17

Final: P17 > 🏁 P17

Steel Ring was a week of two halves. We got to grips with the track through testing and found incredible pace and entered quali with confidence. P2 in group was testament to the pace we had, although a tow would have seen us take P1 missing out by less than half a tenth!

Unfortunately an aggressive start at the front of the order saw us turned around at the start in both of the first two heats, leaving us to rejoin from the back. Mega drives back through saw us finish P16 in each, although we knew we had the pace for much better. Our break came in heat 3 when we finally made it through turn 2, putting in purple sectors, eventually taking P3. This set us up for a P9 start in the prefinal.

Unfortunately this is where our weekend dipped. The heavens opened, and having never driven a wet lap around the circuit knew it would be tough. We then failed to start on the grid leading to a panic and a need to regain places to take the start. The race showed that we had not found a setup that worked well enough finishing P8. Our issues were further compounded when we were deemed to have ‘provided assistance’ on the grid, despite not actually touching the kart, resulting in a DSQ.

The rain continued to fall, and after our DSQ we lined up P17 for the final (-10 places vs where we should have been), and the changes made did little to improve our pace, ultimately finishing P17. More work to be done in the wet…
